Functional Responsibilities

  • Operates, analyzes performance, troubleshoots, inspects, installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs and modifies operational ordnance system(s) and subsystems consisting of numerous complex electronic components in fighter aircraft.

  • Removes, repairs, installs, inspects and conducts operational performance checkout of aircraft ordnance and isolates malfunctions and identifies if failures are in specific Lowest Replaceable Units (LRUs), aircraft weapons, avionics multiplex data bus matrix assemblies, or aircraft digital data wiring. Loads/unloads, positions and safeties air munitions using applicable technical data and handling equipment.

  • Conducts off-equipment troubleshooting and functional checks of electronic weapons control systems.

  • Ensures all munitions are inventoried at the start and completion of the work shift.

  • Coordinates with loading standardization and the weapons element supervisor for all load crew-training requirements.

  • Maintains and reviews publication files of applicable technical orders, regulations, manuals and local directives.

  • Provides hands-on training instruction to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of the electronic ordnance systems within the aircraft.

  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of ordnance theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.

  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.

  • Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.

  • Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential ordnance problems and inherent dangers involved.

  • Maintains performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.

  • Performs preventive maintenance functions as directed.

  • Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting.

  • Assists and trains other maintenance and other technical-level employees.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Two-year technical degree or HS/GED and accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field.

  • Two years of proven experience in the field of electrical/electronics.

  • Two years of practical field experience in Ordnance systems maintenance, and security

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance within 90 days of signing the contingent hire offer letter

  • As a condition of continued employment, you must maintain an active security clearance

Other required skills/experience:
