Functional Responsibilities
The Tomahawk Project Lead is required to manage the Tomahawk Weapons System (TWS) element of emergent Army and Navy Programs.  To accomplish this the Project Lead must manage the efforts of subject matter experts across multiple organizations and their representatives; providing oversight of the software changes required to the TWS in order to support the Program’s intended mission and configuration; direct input to hardware change approvals as they relate to the TWS.

Responsibilities:

The Project Lead requires a thorough understanding and experience with TWS and all of the support elements (sensors, system controls, weapons).  Must have an understanding of the “detect to engage” principles for primary and secondary mission areas, the ability to apply those principles to various platforms, and an understanding of the Warfare Domains (land, sea, air, space, cyber).  The Project Lead is also required to have a strong background in Systems Engineering and the ability to work across and manage multiple functional areas including: Test and Evaluation, Cyber Security, System Safety, Human System Engineering, Integrated Logistic Support, Software, Hardware and Interoperability; must have a thorough understanding of and the ability to navigate policies and instructions originated and maintained by PEO IWS, NAVSEA, PMA 280/281, and related organizations in order to maintain compliance with the governance.  Must have the technical competence to make recommendations that will support backward and forward capability and allow for potential growth in the future to support other mission areas. 

Additional responsibilities include: develop and maintain the Master Program Plan (MPP), meeting coordination, develop meeting material, present financial and technical status during meetings held at various organizational levels, negotiate support agreements with external agencies, maintain financial records and spend plans including obligations and disbursements, provide subject matter expertise during technical meetings, maintain an action item tracker and ensure adjudication of action items in a timely manner agreed upon by the Program Office.   

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineer and three (3) years of TWS experience

  • An Associates of Science degree, US Military TWS formal training five (5) years of experience

  • High School Diploma/GED, US Military TWS formal training seven (7) years of experience

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance within 90 days of signing the contingent hire offer letter

  • As a condition of continued employment, you must maintain an active security clearance

Other required skills/experience:

  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Power Point

  • Strong attention to detail with organizational and problem solving skills

  • Ability to interface constructively with US Government and Industry teammates
