Functional Responsibilities

Pugh Associates is seeking a Navy Close In Weapons System (CIWS) (Phalanx) Technician with experience in performing comprehensive component and system level maintenance for shipboard CIWS Systems. The work is performed at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.

The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level maintenance on the CIWS System.

Provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants.

Schedule planned maintenance actions utilizing the SKED program in accordance with the Navy’s Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.

Notes:

  • This is not a telework position

  • Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40 hour work-week configurations, including:

    1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift

    2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift

    3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

    4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift

  • You must hold a valid driver’s license

  • You must own a reliable motor vehicle

    **PLEASE NOTE - The work week may be scheduled on a rotational basis

Minimum Education and Experience:

Minimum education and years of service required: High School/GED and more than 3 years demonstrated experience assessing, troubleshooting, and performing corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance on systems and equipment.

PQS 301 qualification is required. If the selected candidate is not PQS 301 qualified on or before hire date, he/she must be willing and able to obtain PQS 301 qualification within 3 months of employment.

Labor Classification:

This position is controlled by the Service Contract Act (SCA) and is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • Security clearance requirement: This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain a Secret level clearance.

  • The criteria for obtaining and holding a clearance are driven by US government requirements.

  • You must be a US citizen to obtain a security clearance.

  • Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer and your start date will be delayed until an interim clearance is granted.

  • As a condition of continued employment, you must maintain an active security clearance.
